Contributing to the world of three dimensions is a fascinating and worthwhile profession. Ambition, enthusiasm, and conviction are all part of the amalgam required when taking up the challenge of a new commission.

A chequered history of technical college, civil engineering, art school, living on my wits, sailoring and film production brought me to furniture making in my late twenties. Training under the critical eye of a Danish cabinet maker, who gave me tasks which seemed impossible, leaving me to make mistakes, and then remonstrating at my inability. This became a challenge (don’t annoy the master), and from this challenge came determination.

I had almost by accident happened upon an industry which has been absorbing and rewarding. A long time learning and a lifetime doing is why, after four decades, cabinet making and furniture design are passions I continue to pursue.

This website portfolio presents a selection of my work – furniture, interiors, kitchens, architectural cabinet work and specialist joinery.

As a sometime writer of articles and anecdotes related to the world of cabinet making, saying something about oneself should be a breeze, but like a person good at defending others but inadequate in defence of themselves, writing about my own work has not been easy. I hope that the portfolio of work presented here can speak for itself without need for verbal decoration, yet I have attempted to describe my works, contextualise them, and reveal in some part my journey in their making.
